Q&A with Barry Hawes

City Leader

Minneapolis

I started my career in Cape Town, South Africa many years ago as a CPA and then migrated to IT, where I started as a developer, project manager and then transitioned to the USA in January 1998 to help Target through their Y2K program. I joined Sogeti in 2005 to lead delivery for the MN Geo and took over management of our MN Geo in 2013 when we had around 80 consultants serving our clients and helped us grow to over 700 consultants delivering for our clients today. My current role is regional VP for our North-Central division (MN, ND, SD, IA, NE, KS, MO and WI).

The people, culture and our local Geo focus.

Growing our footprint in the MN market from 80 consultants in 2013 to over 700 now, while maintaining our culture and our local Geo focus.

Treat others the same as you would like to be treated.

We refer to it as the Sogeti family, because it feels like a family. We are a collaborative bunch that are passionate about technology and helping our client’s become heroes in their organizations.

Build and maintain a strong leadership team. Set realistic growth goals and support the team in achieving them.

Keeping the morale of our team high through the COVID pandemic. This was challenging due to the sudden impact of everyone having to work from home and adjust to isolation. To maintain frequent touch points with our team members we reverted to virtual social events, personal calls to check in and using all the technology at our disposal to stay connected and monitor our team members’ morale.

Exercise regularly.

Being outdoors and enjoying our beautiful city and state.
In summer we enjoy being on the lake and enjoying our beautiful summers.
