Q&A with Ritch Steffensmeier

City Leader
Kansas City

I studied mechanical engineering in college and quickly realized I didn’t want to design airplane parts for the rest of my life. I wanted to solve people’s problems and help other be successful. That’s what attracted me to consulting and it’s been my life’s passion for over 30 years.

The people and culture. Sogeti feels like a family. Everyone supports one another. It’s a collaborative environment where innovation and success are celebrated by the entire organization.

Two things: 1) Treat everyone like you want to be treated. 2) Leadership is a behavior, not a role or title.

The Sogeti culture is innovative and collaborative. If you don’t know the answer to a question someone is always there to help. Success is shared by everyone. It’s a Team sport.

Leadership is not a role or a title. It’s about showing up, being the best version of yourself and helping others succeed.

I work on spending quality time with my family and friends. Exercising and getting out in nature always help me to refocus and look at the big picture in life.
